Castlegate Farm Shop has been run by the same family since it began back in 1829. It is a tiny butcher’s outlet in the village of Stony Middleton - Castlegate Farm, farmed by the Hancock family for 6 generations, is in the centre of the village.It offers traditional, straight forward farm fare including home reared beef and lamb, cheeses, jams and pickles. Broughton Water Buffalo
The farm has been fully organic since October 2009. From Spring through autumn the buffalo graze outside and in winter they are housed in large open sheds and outside yards. At Manor Farm the buffalo grow naturally and slowly, which improves the flavour and nutritional value of the meat.

Having supplied quality fresh meat and other foodstuffs to hotels and caterers across central Scotland since 1965, we created a butcher's shop on our 3rd generation family farm that opened to the public early in 2014.
