We have been growing strawberries at Church Farm, Sessay, since 1970, starting off with 2 acres, and gradually increasing to the present 12 acres. 1 acre of raspberries was planted in 1990, and this area has now increased to 3 acres. Alongside these fruits are also blackcurrants, redcurrants, gooseberries and plums.

Grove Farm Pick Your Own started in 1981 when Brussels sprouts that were grown for wholesale could not be harvested and were offered to the public to pick themselves. The Balloon Tree Farmshop and Cafe

We are a family run, high quality food retailer. The Machin family has seen the site grow, from the original wooden hut with a table on the side of the road, to the fully fledged farm shop that opened in April 2004. The Balloon Tree takes its name from an ancient horse chestnut tree that stood at the Buttercrambe turning, down the road. We have enjoyed a successful run of awards to date, thanks to a great team and amazing customers!
