Scotland's biggest box scheme operator, in 2011 Macleod Organics began operating from Lowes Fruit Farm in addition to their main Ardersier base in the Highlands, and took on the customer base of now-closed Damhead organic farm in Edinburgh. This has expanded their deliveries area to include the central belt, as well as a wide area of the Highlands, Inverness and Nairn. Working towards sourcing all their fruit and vegetables from organic Scottish soil, Macleod’s target is, impressively, currently 90 per cent fulfilled. The Farmer’s Box is a home delivery service based in Ormskirk, Lancashire. We deliver boxes of fruit and organic vegetables, fresh and direct from the grower, across West Lancashire, Liverpool, Southport, Cheshire and Manchester.

The delicatessen in the Courtyard at the Mains of Taymouth estate manages to fulfil the roles of a greengrocer, a gelateria and a deli without seeming crowded or unfocused. It's an airy, modern building with plenty of browsing space and, because of the range, it has become important to nearby holidaymakers and locals alike who come for basic essentials or luxurious treats, all with a strong local flavour. Most weekends have tastings conducted by some of the 25 Perthshire producers represented in the shop, from the Glen Lyon coffee served up and Inveralmond brews to the Rannock Smokery meats – which also go on their home-made pizzas. The thoughtful operation offers food starter packs for tourists, veg boxes for free 15-mile delivery and gift hampers that can be made up on the spot.

Phantassie Organic Produce
Phantassie is based on the edge of East Linton in rural East Lothian, just 25 miles from Edinburgh. The original growing area, a one acre walled garden, is a sheltered patch which has been in use for over 150 years. Gradually we’ve also cultivated another 7 acres. Our large unheated polytunnels enable us to extend the growing seasons and provide a variety of vegetables all year round. We supplement our produce with veg from other local Organic Growers, as well as England and Europe with a cornucopia of Fruit, always as local as possible, never airfreighted and FAIRTRADE if applicable.

A major focus of our land based activity is directed towards working a one acre vegetable garden. We use both organic and permaculture methods on our plot and the produce from this garden supplies our Veg Box Scheme.
