Veg Out was formed by Debbie and Howard Smith in 1996, and we’ve been delivering our organic veg box to customers every week since then. Starting on a set of allotments we realised that a box scheme was a viable way of making a living, selling direct to customers locally all year round.

we are a local family, who started supplying & selling locally sourced produce at Car Boot Sales & Farmer's Markets in Carlisle & throughout the surrounding area. Barcombe Nurseries

In 1997, Adrian Halstead, always a keen allotment gardener, took a leap of faith and bought the nursery in rural Barcombe, four miles west of Lewes and twelve miles north of Brighton. He began the conversion to organic status under the auspices of the Soil Association with the idea of starting a local vegetable box scheme.
